Durham Wildlife Trust (DWT) is working with Durham County Council and Sunderland City Council to develop a landscape scale project which will make a significant contribution to the quality of the natural environment as well as encouraging people to access and enjoy green spaces around the Lumley Park Burn catchment.
The first stage in the development of this project is to find out what people think about their local green spaces, parks, woodlands and river corridors and how they currently use them. It was planned to do some face to face consultation, however this has been postponed. Therefore, an online survey has been developed and members of the public are invited to complete a questionnaire. It Is hoped that face to face consultation may be possible in the future.
Part of the project area falls within the area of the West Rainton Parish Council and DWT would welcome feedback from local residents. A link to our website, below, gives some background information and includes a link to the survey and a map. This is a large scale project and will take a number of years to develop; we are at the very early stages.
