The storms and the resultant loss of power last year and the extremely high temperatures this summer have highlighted some of the adverse situations that can have an impact on our community.
The Parish Council, in consultation with the Civil Contingency Unit (CCU) of Durham County Council, is therefore considering developing a Community Emergency Plan.
The main purpose of the plan is to help build community resilience to help protect those most vulnerable in our community from potential life-threatening risks and to help our community to recover from an emergency or adverse situation should one occur.
Preparing a Community Emergency plan requires voluntary input from across the community and harnessing local knowledge and resources, as we know our area and community best. We are the local experts.
The Parish Council would therefore like to invite you to a public meeting so that you can find out more about what’s involved in preparing a Community Emergency Plan and how you can help.
Laura Dobson from the CCU will be in attendance to provide more information, explain how her expertise and knowledge will be able to support the development of our community plan and answer any questions.
